How to unblock your drain naturally

Family Health Diary

Unblocking a drain doesn’t have to involve harsh chemicals or expensive solutions. Whether it’s a slow-draining sink, a clogged shower, or a backed-up kitchen drain, natural remedies like vinegar can effectively tackle the problem while being safer for your pipes, your health, and the environment. Vinegar is a powerful and natural solution for clearing clogged drains. Paired with baking soda, it creates an effective chemical reaction that helps break down grease, soap scum, and other debris.

Ingredients:

1 Cup DYC White Vinegar

1 Cup Baking Soda

Water

Directions:

  1. Pour a kettle full of hot water down the sink. Note: if you have plastic pipes use hot tap water instead of boiling water.
  2. Pour 1 cup baking soda down the drain.
  3. Add 1 cup DYC White Vinegar.
  4. When this stops foaming place a paper towel or cloth on the top.
  5. Let sit for 10 – 30 minutes.
  6. Rinse the sink out with a full kettle of boiling water (use hot water if you have plastic pipes).
