Removing turmeric stains

Family Health Diary

Turmeric stains are notoriously difficult to remove due to the bright yellow pigment known as curcumin. When turmeric comes into contact with fabric, countertops, and skin it can leave a lasting mark if not addressed promptly, so is essential to act quickly. Try this technique below using the cleaning power of DYC white vinegar! Always test in an inconspicuous place first.

Directions
  1. First blot the stain with a clean white cloth. Do not rub.
  2. Quickly mix together DYC white vinegar and dishwashing liquid.
  3. While the mixture is still frothing, apply quickly onto the stain using the back of a spoon to press it closely against the stain.
  4. Leave for half an hour.
  5. Rinse thoroughly in cold water.
  6. Hopefully the stain has gone. If not try a little bleach powder as a thin paste and leave for 5 minutes and then wash off thoroughly.
